Where Were You

I read Kristi's blog today. Her full disclosure of her past excited me to finally start a blog. I don't think my past is as beautiful as hers but it's time I learn to face it and embrace it.

20 YEARS AGO:
1. I was just about to turn 8. I was in 3rd grade at Tunnel Elementry School in Santa Maria, CA. My teacher was Mrs. Love. I had a crush on every boy in my class. I often snooped in my seat mate's desk, a cute boy, for loose change. I kicked Joshua in the groin for reasons I can't remember--he tattled.
2. My best friends were Tracy and Kacie. I loved to trade shoes, bikes, coats, and lunches with my classmates. Channone had cool, blue zip-up shoes I always begged to wear.
3. I loved times tables; my kitty, Ashley; riding my bike; playing office; and doing my own commercials in the bathroom mirror.

10 YEARS AGO:
1. I was just about to turn 18. I was a Senior at Viewmont High School. I had no plans for the future and I didn't have a job.
2. I had just gone to the Valentine's dance with Alex. My closest friend was Paige. I rode the bus to school and I was enrolled in Junior Choir even though I was a senior.
3. I loved Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford workout tapes. My favorite classes in school were AP Art and English and I watched Oprah everyday.

5 YEARS AGO:
1. I was about to turn 23. I was living in an apartment with my husband of three years. I spent months convincing him that it was time for me to go back to college and I was in my first semester at LDS Business College.
2. I worked for the Accounts Payable department of JCPenney in Salt Lake City. I took the UTA bus in to work and I adored being in the city.
3. I was still trying to convince Scott that we should have a baby.

1 YEAR AGO:
1. I was finally feeling sane as a mother of an almost one-year-old.
2. I gave a gift of art to a friend that brought me back into the art world.
3. I was starting to get more involved with other moms in my neighborhood and doing playgroup activities with them.

THIS YEAR:
1. I am turing 28 and I don't really care. 28 isn't so bad. I don't even mind the idea of turning 30 soon. But I'd really love to have another baby this year. I hope the second time will be as great as the first.
2. I use acne medicine and wrinkle creams! People can't tell if I'm 23 with all my zits or 43 with my wrinkling eyes and dark circles. My hair is butch short and Scott hates it but I don't plan on growing it out anytime soon.
3. Kate and Scott and being a family are my everything and I just want to play with Kate, do art, and read all year long.

YESTERDAY:
1. I hung out with the Junior High girls who wait for the bus in front of my house. I drove my mom and dad to the airport for a business/pleasure/humanitarian trip to Argentina.
2. I made tortilla pizza's for lunch, watched a movie while Kate took a nap, went to the Endodontist to spend $60 for the guy to hold ice on all my teeth and tell me things I already knew while my wonderful mother-in-law played with Kate.
3. I picked up my niece, took her to the craft store, dropped my truck off for repair, and ate dinner with Kate while Scott was at a Boy Scout activity.

TOMORROW:
1. I plan to hang out with the Junior High girls again, make Apple Cinnamon Cheerios Pancakes for the first time-I just got a cool Cheerio cookbook from my sister.
2. I'll play with Kate and hang around the house in Sweats. When Kate takes her nap, I'll work on a watercolor I just started, and then I'll pick up my niece. She can watch Kate while I go on a date with Scott.
3. I don't know what we'll do for dinner but I know we'll be home by 8:00 pm to put the cutie to bed so we can stay up eating ice cream and watching some movie from the redbox nearby.
